Thermoplastic polyurethane is the elastomer that sits between rubber and rigid plastic. It gives you the abrasion resistance, elasticity, and toughness of a cured rubber with the clean melt processing of a thermoplastic, so the same material can be injection molded, extruded, or blown into film without a vulcanization step.
P.A.T. Products is the North American distributor for COIM's Laripur TPU. Laripur covers the full hardness spectrum in one consistent product family, from soft Shore A grades for seals and flexible tube up to rigid Shore D grades for wear parts and structural components.
The grade that fits your part depends on two choices: the chemistry type and the hardness. Both are covered below, and our technical team will narrow it with you.
TPU is built on a soft segment that sets its environmental resistance. The three families behave differently, and picking the right one is usually more important than fine-tuning hardness.
The strongest on abrasion, mechanical performance, and resistance to oils, fuels, and heat. The extrusion and wear-part workhorse. Long-term exposure to hot water or steam is its weak point.
The strongest on hydrolysis resistance, low-temperature flexibility, and microbial resistance. The choice for wet, cold, buried, or long-immersion service and many dynamic seals.
A polyester type that keeps most of the mechanical strength while improving hydrolysis resistance. A middle path for demanding seals and parts that see both wear and moisture.

Hardness sets stiffness, sealing force, and wear behavior. Softer grades flex and seal; harder grades hold shape and resist gouging. Laripur spans the full range, so you can hold one supplier across a family of parts.

Soft to medium grades for dynamic seals, gaskets, and back-up rings that need chemical resistance, compression-set recovery, and long service life.

TPU is colored with masterbatch, a solid color concentrate let down into the resin during molding or extrusion. The process and the finished form differ from the liquid dispersions we supply for cast PU. We match a target color and supply the masterbatch or a pre-colored compound. See color matching.
When the part runs hotter or sees aggressive chemicals beyond what TPU handles comfortably, the next step up is a thermoplastic copolyester elastomer (TPC-ET). P.A.T. Products supplies Sipol's Sipolprene TPC-ET as a companion to the Laripur line, for static and dynamic seals, wire and cable, and flexible parts that need higher continuous-service temperature and better creep resistance.
