Laripur 9060 is a PTMG polyether based TPU at Shore 88 A. COIM states that it has very good resistance to hydrolysis and microbial attack, which is what puts it in wet, buried and washed-down service where a polyester grade would degrade.

The standard version is designed for injection moulding of tags and technical items and the 9060EG version for the extrusion of cable, profile and film. Tensile strength is 7000 psi at 610 percent elongation, with tear strength of 86 N/mm and a VICAT softening point of 176 degrees F.

Two flame retardant versions exist, both halogen free. 9060EF is transparent, Shore 89 A, and COIM recommends it for fire retarded items and cable extrusion in particular. 9060HFM carries what COIM calls an excellent flame retardant with good mechanical properties retained, has a matt surface and reads Shore 90 A. They are separate products with their own data sheets, not a package option, so name the version on the order.

Order the EG version when the material is going into a die. COIM identifies its extrusion versions with an end code after the grade number, and that code has to be on the purchase order.

Handling and dispersion

Dry before processing at 175 to 195 degrees F for 3 hours, preferably in a dehumidifying drier fed by air with a dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Skipping the drying step is the most common cause of splay and bubbles in a TPU part.

COIM's suggested moulding profile runs zone 1 at 365 degrees F, zone 2 at 375, zone 3 at 385 and the nozzle at 375. The suggested extrusion profile runs zone 1 at 385, zone 2 at 390, zone 3 at 400, zone 4 at 395, adapter 385 and die 375. Machine, screw and downstream equipment all move these, so treat them as a starting point.

Packaging, storage, and regulatory status

Package sizes: 25 kg bags, or 500 kg and 1000 kg octabins.

Storage: Six months from the date of delivery, in the original sealed packaging, in a dry well ventilated place out of direct sun.

Frequently asked questions

Will Laripur 9060 survive hot water?

It is the grade in this catalog built for it. COIM states very good resistance to hydrolysis and microbial attack for the PTMG polyether grades, which is why they go into buried cable, washdown parts and anything that stays damp. Tell us the temperature and duration and we will confirm.

What is the difference between 9060, 9060EF and 9060HFM?

9060 is the base grade at Shore 88 A. 9060EF is a transparent halogen free flame retardant version at Shore 89 A that COIM recommends for cable extrusion. 9060HFM is a halogen free flame retardant version at Shore 90 A with a matt surface and a higher specific gravity of 1.22. Each has its own data sheet and its own properties, so name the version you want.

Are the flame retardant versions halogen free?

Yes. COIM states that both 9060EF and 9060HFM are completely halogen free. Neither carries a published UL rating on the data sheet, so if you need a listed rating, tell us the standard and we will get it from COIM in writing.

What is the polyester equivalent?

Laripur 9025 at Shore 90 A. It is stronger, 8600 psi tensile against 7000 psi here, and it does not carry the hydrolysis resistance. That is the trade between the two chemistries at this hardness.

Can I get the TDS and SDS for Laripur 9060?
