A family business built on relationships

P.A.T. Products was founded in Maine in 1974. For over 50 years, we have built a business that handles real complexity: custom volumes, regulated imports, technical questions that need direct answers, and documentation that has to be right. We also manufacture select product lines in the United States, with our own lab, production facility, and quality control team.

We work with producers from around the world and bring their products to North American manufacturers with the technical depth and hands-on service both sides depend on.

Today, P.A.T. Products is in its second generation of family ownership. We are a small team, and our people can make decisions without going up a chain.

Fifty years, six chapters

Bangor, Maine, where P.A.T. Products was founded 1974

Founded in Maine

P.A.T. Products was founded by a husband-and-wife team with a focus on commodity trading. From the start, the company served industries where product knowledge and supplier relationships mattered, including pulp and paper and animal feed.

European supply partnerships 1980s

European partnerships begin

PAT established its first long-term distribution partnerships with European producers of polyurethane systems and related products. The portfolio expanded to include natural products like shellac and damar resin.

Industrial manufacturing, in-house production begins 1990s

Elastomers and in-house color

New partnerships added thermoplastics and additives for polyurethane systems, with a growing focus on footwear. The decade also marked the start of in-house liquid color dispersion production at the Hermon, Maine facility.

Global supply chain expansion 2000s

Expanding into new industries

Growth continued into inks, coatings, paints, water treatment, and metalworking, each built on a direct relationship with the maker.

Gum acacia tree, natural ingredients sourcing 2010s

Manufacturing and food ingredients

Investment in the Hermon facility expanded liquid color capacity. The food and beverage division grew, with PAT adding US-made natural ingredients, including spray-dried oil powders, under the PAT Ingredients brand.
