Laripur 72D25

The hardest polyester grade in the range at Shore 67 D, with 10300 psi tensile and 228 N/mm tear. Technical items, footwear components and wheel parts.

Home Products COIM Laripur 72D25

Laripur 72D25 is a polyester based TPU at Shore 67 D, the hardest polyester grade in this catalog. COIM lists it for the injection moulding of technical items, footwear components and wheel parts.

Tensile strength is 10300 psi and tear strength 228 N/mm, with a flexural modulus of 82000 N per square mm. Elongation at break is 320 percent, the lowest of the polyester grades here.

The VICAT softening point is 365 degrees F, the highest polyester figure in this catalog. Between that and the modulus, this is the grade for a load-bearing part that has to keep its shape.

Handling and dispersion

Dry before processing at 175 to 195 degrees F for 3 hours, preferably in a dehumidifying drier fed by air with a dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Skipping the drying step is the most common cause of splay and bubbles in a TPU part.

COIM's suggested moulding profile runs zone 1 at 395 degrees F, zone 2 at 405, zone 3 at 420 and the nozzle at 410. Machine, screw and downstream equipment all move these, so treat them as a starting point.

Packaging, storage, and regulatory status

Package sizes: 25 kg bags, or 500 kg and 1000 kg octabins.

Storage: Six months from the date of delivery, in the original sealed packaging, in a dry well ventilated place out of direct sun.

COIM does not consider the product dangerous. Read the safety data sheet before handling.

Frequently asked questions

Is Laripur 72D25 polyester or polyether?

Polyester. COIM's data sheet describes it as a polyester based TPU.

Is this the hardest Laripur grade?

It is the hardest polyester grade in this catalog at Shore 67 D. Laripur 7711 is harder still at Shore 77 D, and Laripur 71D60 is a polyether at Shore 70 D. Above about Shore 60 D the material behaves as a rigid engineering plastic rather than an elastomer.

Will it hold up as a wheel?

COIM names wheel parts on the sheet. Tear strength is 228 N/mm and abrasion loss is 40 cubic mm by DIN 53516. For a wheel that runs wet or gets washed down, the polyether at a similar hardness, Laripur 6560, is the safer chemistry.

What is the service temperature?

COIM publishes a VICAT softening point of 365 degrees F. That is a softening figure under a standard load, not a continuous service rating. Tell us the temperature, the load and the duration and we will confirm the grade.

Can I get the TDS and SDS for Laripur 72D25?

Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
