Laripur 2102-85AE is a polycaprolactone ester based TPU at Shore 84 A. COIM designed the standard version for injection moulding of technical items, watch belts, bellows and seals, and the extrusion version for hoses, profiles, transmission belts and film.
Polycaprolactone is the third chemistry in the Laripur range. It keeps the oil and abrasion resistance of an ester TPU and holds up better than a standard polyester in hot wet conditions.
Tensile strength is 9300 psi at 510 percent elongation, high for a Shore 84 A material, with tear strength of 72 N/mm and abrasion loss of 30 cubic mm by DIN 53516. The VICAT softening point is 192 degrees F.
The AE ending is COIM's extrusion code and on this grade it is part of the name, so the name is what you order.

Dry before processing at 175 to 195 degrees F for 3 hours, preferably in a dehumidifying drier fed by air with a dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Skipping the drying step is the most common cause of splay and bubbles in a TPU part.
COIM's suggested moulding profile runs zone 1 at 355 degrees F, zone 2 at 365, zone 3 at 375 and the nozzle at 365. The suggested extrusion profile runs zone 1 at 375, zone 2 at 380, zone 3 at 390, zone 4 at 385, adapter 375 and die 365. Machine, screw and downstream equipment all move these, so treat them as a starting point.
Package sizes: 25 kg bags, or 500 kg and 1000 kg octabins.
Storage: Six months from the date of delivery, in the original sealed packaging, in a dry well ventilated place out of direct sun.

An ester based TPU built on a polycaprolactone soft segment rather than a conventional polyester or a polyether. It keeps the oil and abrasion resistance of an ester chemistry and holds up better than a standard polyester in hot wet conditions.
COIM names watch belts on the data sheet, which is a skin contact application, but the sheet makes no biocompatibility claim and neither do we. If the part touches skin, tell us the standard you have to meet and we will ask COIM in writing before you specify it.
8225 is a polyester at Shore 83 A and 8500 psi tensile. 2102-85AE is a polycaprolactone ester at Shore 84 A and 9300 psi, with a lower tear strength, 72 N/mm against 85. The caprolactone chemistry is the reason to pay for it.
It is COIM's extrusion code, and on this grade it is part of the name rather than an option on the order.
