Laripur 5760

PTMG polyether TPU at Shore 56 D with very good resistance to hydrolysis and microbial attack. Injection moulded ski boots and technical items.

Home Products COIM Laripur 5760

Laripur 5760 is a PTMG polyether based TPU at Shore 56 D. COIM states that it has very good resistance to hydrolysis and microbial attack, and designed it for injection moulding of ski boots and technical items.

Tensile strength is 9000 psi at 400 percent elongation, with tear strength of 140 N/mm and a flexural modulus of 24000 N per square mm. The VICAT softening point is 266 degrees F.

COIM's sheet for this grade publishes only a moulding profile. If the part is extruded, tell us and we will point you at a grade COIM has released an extrusion version of.

Applications

Ski boots

COIM's first listed use.

Technical injection moulded parts

Named on the data sheet.

Wet service parts

COIM states very good resistance to hydrolysis and microbial attack.

Handling and dispersion

Dry before processing at 175 to 195 degrees F for 3 hours, preferably in a dehumidifying drier fed by air with a dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Skipping the drying step is the most common cause of splay and bubbles in a TPU part.

COIM's suggested moulding profile runs zone 1 at 380 degrees F, zone 2 at 390, zone 3 at 405 and the nozzle at 390. Machine, screw and downstream equipment all move these, so treat them as a starting point.

Packaging, storage, and regulatory status

Package sizes: 25 kg bags, or 500 kg and 1000 kg octabins.

Storage: Six months from the date of delivery, in the original sealed packaging, in a dry well ventilated place out of direct sun.

COIM does not consider the product dangerous. Read the safety data sheet before handling.

Frequently asked questions

Is Laripur 5760 polyester or polyether?

PTMG polyether. COIM states very good resistance to hydrolysis and microbial attack for this grade, which is the reason to pick it over a polyester at the same hardness.

What is the polyester equivalent?

Laripur 5725 at the same Shore 56 D. It is slightly stronger, 9500 psi tensile against 9000 psi, and stiffer at 27000 N per square mm against 24000. The polyether trades that for wet service.

Can it be extruded?

COIM's published sheet for 5760 carries a moulding profile only. Tell us the profile you need and we will identify a grade with a released extrusion version, such as Laripur 5260EG at Shore 50 D.

Do I have to dry it?

Yes. Three hours at 175 to 195 degrees F in a dehumidifying drier with the air dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Polyether TPU resists hydrolysis in service; it still hydrolyses in a hot barrel if it goes in wet.

Can I get the TDS and SDS for Laripur 5760?

Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
