Laripur 5725

Polyester TPU at Shore 56 D with 9500 psi tensile strength. Technical items, sport soles and cattle tags, with 5725EG for hose, profile, belt and film extrusion.

Home Products COIM Laripur 5725

Laripur 5725 is a polyester based TPU at Shore 56 D. COIM lists the standard version for technical items, sport soles and cattle tags, and the 5725EG version for the extrusion of hoses, profiles, transmission belts and films.

Tensile strength is 9500 psi and tear strength 163 N/mm, with a flexural modulus of 27000 N per square mm. Elongation at break is 410 percent, lower than the softer grades, which is what a harder TPU trades away.

The VICAT softening point is 280 degrees F. Abrasion loss is 35 cubic mm by DIN 53516.

Order the EG version when the material is going into a die. COIM identifies its extrusion versions with an end code after the grade number, and that code has to be on the purchase order.

Applications

Hose and profile

Extrusion in the 5725EG version.

Transmission belts

Listed by COIM for the extrusion version.

Film and sheet

Extruded film in the EG version.

Technical injection moulded parts

The standard version is made for it.

Sport soles

One of COIM's stated uses.

Cattle tags

Named on the data sheet.

Handling and dispersion

Dry before processing at 175 to 195 degrees F for 3 hours, preferably in a dehumidifying drier fed by air with a dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Skipping the drying step is the most common cause of splay and bubbles in a TPU part.

COIM's suggested moulding profile runs zone 1 at 380 degrees F, zone 2 at 400, zone 3 at 415 and the nozzle at 400. The suggested extrusion profile runs zone 1 at 400, zone 2 at 405, zone 3 at 415, zone 4 at 420, adapter 415 and die 405. Machine, screw and downstream equipment all move these, so treat them as a starting point.

Packaging, storage, and regulatory status

Package sizes: 25 kg bags, or 500 kg and 1000 kg octabins.

Storage: Six months from the date of delivery, in the original sealed packaging, in a dry well ventilated place out of direct sun.

COIM does not consider the product dangerous. Read the safety data sheet before handling.

Frequently asked questions

Is Laripur 5725 polyester or polyether?

Polyester. COIM's data sheet describes it as a quality polyester based TPU. That is the chemistry with the abrasion and oil resistance, and the one that hydrolyses in prolonged hot wet service.

Where does it sit against 5225?

Five points harder and stronger. 5725 is Shore 56 D at 9500 psi tensile and 163 N/mm tear; 5225 is Shore 51 D at 9000 psi and 145 N/mm. Elongation drops from 460 to 410 percent, which is the cost of the extra stiffness.

What is the polyether equivalent?

Laripur 5760, a PTMG polyether at the same Shore 56 D. Tensile strength is 9000 psi against 9500 psi here, and COIM credits it with very good resistance to hydrolysis and microbial attack.

Does it need drying?

Yes. Three hours at 175 to 195 degrees F in a dehumidifying drier with the air dew point below minus 22 degrees F. This applies to every Laripur grade.

Can I get the TDS and SDS for Laripur 5725?

Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
