Laripur 8225

Polyester TPU at Shore 83 A with 8500 psi tensile strength. Injection moulded sport soles, wheels, screen elements and technical items, with 8225EG for extrusion.

Home Products COIM Laripur 8225

Laripur 8225 is a polyester based TPU at Shore 83 A. COIM designed the standard version for injection moulding of sport soles, wheels, screen elements, masks and technical items, and the 8225EG version for the extrusion of hoses, profiles, transmission belts and film.

Tensile strength is 8500 psi at 600 percent elongation, with a 100 percent modulus of 900 psi and tear strength of 85 N/mm. Abrasion loss is 30 cubic mm by DIN 53516.

COIM's data sheet for this grade does not publish a VICAT softening point. If service temperature is the deciding property, ask us and we will get the current figure from COIM rather than infer one from a sibling grade.

Order the EG version when the material is going into a die. COIM identifies its extrusion versions with an end code after the grade number, and that code has to be on the purchase order.

Handling and dispersion

Dry before processing at 175 to 195 degrees F for 3 hours, preferably in a dehumidifying drier fed by air with a dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Skipping the drying step is the most common cause of splay and bubbles in a TPU part.

COIM's suggested moulding profile runs zone 1 at 355 degrees F, zone 2 at 365, zone 3 at 375 and the nozzle at 365. The suggested extrusion profile runs zone 1 at 375, zone 2 at 380, zone 3 at 390, zone 4 at 385, adapter 375 and die 365. Machine, screw and downstream equipment all move these, so treat them as a starting point.

Packaging, storage, and regulatory status

Package sizes: 25 kg bags, or 500 kg and 1000 kg octabins.

Storage: Six months from the date of delivery, in the original sealed packaging, in a dry well ventilated place out of direct sun.

COIM does not consider the product dangerous. Read the safety data sheet before handling.

Frequently asked questions

Is Laripur 8225 polyester or polyether?

Polyester. COIM's data sheet describes it as a polyester based TPU, which is the chemistry with the abrasion and oil resistance and the one to avoid in prolonged hot wet service.

Why is there no softening point on the data sheet?

COIM's published sheet for 8225 does not carry a VICAT figure, and we will not borrow one from another grade. Ask us and we will request the current value from COIM for your qualification file.

What is the difference between 8225 and 8225EG?

The process. The standard version is for injection moulding and 8225EG is the extrusion version, for hose, profile, transmission belt and film. The EG code has to be on the order when you need the extrusion version.

Which grade is harder, 8225 or 9025?

9025, at Shore 90 A against 83 A here, in the same polyester chemistry. 9025 also carries a higher 300 percent modulus, 3400 psi against 2190 psi.

Can I get the TDS and SDS for Laripur 8225?

Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
