Laripur 4525EG

An extrusion-only polyester grade at Shore 46 D. Hoses, profiles, transmission belts and films.

Home Products COIM Laripur 4525EG

Laripur 4525EG is a polyester based TPU at Shore 46 D, supplied only as an extrusion grade. COIM lists it for the extrusion of hoses, profiles, transmission belts and films.

There is no injection version of this grade on COIM's sheet, which is why the EG code is part of the name rather than an option on the order.

Tensile strength is 8800 psi at 510 percent elongation, with tear strength of 126 N/mm and a flexural modulus of 14300 N per square mm. The VICAT softening point is 120 degrees F, the lowest figure in this catalog, so check service temperature before specifying it.

Applications

Hose and tubing

COIM's first listed use.

Profiles

Extruded profile.

Transmission belts

Named on the data sheet.

Film and sheet

Extruded film.

Handling and dispersion

Dry before processing at 175 to 195 degrees F for 3 hours, preferably in a dehumidifying drier fed by air with a dew point below minus 22 degrees F. Skipping the drying step is the most common cause of splay and bubbles in a TPU part.

COIM's suggested extrusion profile runs zone 1 at 390 degrees F, zone 2 at 400 and zone 3 at 410, with the adapter at 390 and the die at 385. The published sheet carries an obvious typing error in the zone 4 figure, so we have left it out rather than reprint it; ask us and we will confirm the current value with COIM. Machine, screw and downstream equipment all move these anyway, so treat them as a starting point.

Packaging, storage, and regulatory status

Package sizes: 25 kg bags, or 500 kg and 1000 kg octabins.

Storage: Six months from the date of delivery, in the original sealed packaging, in a dry well ventilated place out of direct sun.

COIM does not consider the product dangerous. Read the safety data sheet before handling.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an injection moulding version of 4525?

Not on COIM's published sheet. 4525EG is an extrusion grade and the EG code is part of the grade name. If you need a similar hardness for injection, Laripur 5225 at Shore 51 D is the closest polyester grade with a moulding profile.

Is it polyester or polyether?

Polyester. COIM describes it as a quality polyester based TPU.

What is the service temperature?

COIM publishes a VICAT softening point of 120 degrees F, the lowest in this catalog. That is a softening figure under a standard load rather than a continuous service rating, but it is low enough that it should be checked against your duty before the grade is specified.

Do I need to dry it before extruding?

Yes. Three hours at 175 to 195 degrees F in a dehumidifying drier with the air dew point below minus 22 degrees F. In extrusion, undried TPU shows up as bubbles in the wall and a surface that will not gloss.

Can I get the TDS and SDS for Laripur 4525EG?

Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
