Granulated xanthan gum thickener for waterborne coatings and inks. Dust free, dissolves without lumps under moderate stirring, and gives the transparent finish VT 920 does not.
Deuteron VT 930 is a natural biopolymer thickener based on polysaccharides, supplied as granules. It dissolves in cold and hot water and gives pseudoplastic solutions that hold a wide temperature and pH range.
It builds a strong structure viscosity. Viscosity falls when shear is applied and returns to its base level as soon as the shear stops, which is what keeps pigments and fillers from settling in storage and stops a coating sagging once it is applied.
VT 930 is the transparent version of Deuteron VT 920. Where the finished film has to stay clear, this is the grade to specify.
The granulated supply form is the practical difference from a powdered xanthan. It can be added dust free and without lumps, and it does not need high shear to incorporate.

Dosage: 0.1 to 1.0 percent for thickening and gel formation, 0.1 to 0.3 percent to stabilise solids against sedimentation, and 0.1 to 0.5 percent for anti-sagging.
Typical values from the manufacturer's technical data sheet. They describe the product, they are not a specification. We will send the current TDS and the batch documentation your qualification needs.
Tell us the binder system, the property you are targeting, and the volume you expect. We will confirm the grade, send the documentation, and ship a sample from North American stock.
General viscosity adjustment and anti-sagging in water-based systems.
Stops pigments and waxes floating or settling during storage.
Stable structure viscosity that recovers after application shear.
Viscosity control without high shear equipment.
Stable gels and suspension of solids.
It is specified where the formulation needs general viscosity adjustment, less floating and settling of waxes and pigments, better stability and anti-sagging, stable gels, and a transparent finish where clarity matters.
The granulated form lets VT 930 be added dust free and without lumps. Add it while stirring and keep stirring at moderate speed until it is fully in solution. Complete dispersion usually takes 10 to 15 minutes, and higher shear speeds that up.
Thickener solutions based on polysaccharides need protecting against fungal and bacterial growth. Any broad-range biocide used in the paint industry is suitable.
Package sizes: Cardboard box with plastic inliner, 15 kg net.
Storage: 24 months at room temperature in dry conditions. Storage temperature should not exceed 35 °C and relative humidity should not exceed 70 percent.
Under Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 Deuteron VT 930 is not classified as a dangerous product and does not require hazard labelling. It also meets the Food Chemical Codex, the EU criteria for E415, 21 CFR 172.695 in the United States, the JECFA guidelines, the European Pharmacopoeia, the US Pharmacopeia, and Japan's specifications and standards for food additives.
VT 930 is the transparent version. Both are granulated xanthan gum thickeners at 2200 mPa.s in a 1 percent solution, and they dose the same way. Choose VT 930 when the finished film or gel has to stay clear.
No. The granulated supply form is the point of this grade. Add it while stirring at moderate speed and it goes into solution in 10 to 15 minutes without lumps. Higher shear makes it faster but is not required. A powdered xanthan like Deuteron XG does need high shear.
It tolerates a wide pH range. Below pH 2 and above pH 12 the polysaccharide starts to depolymerise and viscosity falls. It is stable in anionic and non-ionic systems, and can be incompatible in cationic ones.
It tolerates up to 40 percent of organic solvents such as alcohols or glycol ethers. It is insoluble in pure organic solvents, so it is a thickener for water-based and water-containing systems.
Yes. Polysaccharide thickener solutions should be stabilised against fungal and bacterial growth. Any broad-range biocide used in the paint industry is suitable.
Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and Regulatory Information Sheet on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
The same granulated thickener where transparency is not required.
Glyoxal-modified powder that disperses in five minutes at pH 5 to 7.
The powdered xanthan, for plants with high shear dispersing.
