Antistatic additive for electrostatic spray paints, supplied at 50 percent active in butanol. Low viscosity, easy to dose, and the lighter GHS label of the two butanol grades.
Deuteron LE 50 is a conductivity additive based on tetraalkylammonium ethyl sulphate, supplied at approximately 50 percent active in 1-butanol. It adjusts the surface and volume resistivity of a system through surface migration and the ionic character of the cations.
Its cationic character and the very high polarity that comes with it are what let the butanol solution cut the electrical resistance of organic solvents and their mixtures.
It was developed mainly to set the resistivity of electrostatic spray paints, and it works in air-drying and forced-drying primers and top coats alike.
At 20 mPa.s it is a thin, easily dosed liquid. It also carries a less critical GHS label than the 80 percent version of the same chemistry, because of the lower active content.

Dosage: Approximately 0.3 to 4 percent. The exact quantity depends on the system and has to be determined for the intended application.
Typical values from the manufacturer's technical data sheet. They describe the product, they are not a specification. We will send the current TDS and the batch documentation your qualification needs.
Tell us the binder system, the property you are targeting, and the volume you expect. We will confirm the grade, send the documentation, and ship a sample from North American stock.
The application the grade was developed for.
Resistivity adjustment without a bake.
Same adjustment in heat-accelerated schedules.
Cuts the electrical resistance of organic solvents and their mixtures.
It is specified where the formulation needs controlled surface and volume resistivity, low viscosity for easy dosing, a less critical ghs label than the higher-active version, and dosing at any point, including as a post addition.
LE 50 can be added at any time during production, or used as a post addition to bring resistivity onto target after the batch is made.
In isocyanate systems, account for the hydroxyl groups the butanol brings with it. At approximately 11.5 percent OH content this is a real contribution to the stoichiometry, not a rounding.
Package sizes: Steel drum, 25 kg or 185 kg net.
Storage: 24 months in tightly closed original containers at room temperature.
Under Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 Deuteron LE 50 is classified as a dangerous product and must be labelled. Its lower active content gives it a less critical label than the 80 percent version. Labelling requirements differ by region, so check the safety data sheet issued for your country.
Yes, and it is the first thing to check. LE 50 carries about 11.5 percent OH content from the butanol, and those hydroxyl groups will react with isocyanate. Count them in the stoichiometry. If that is unwelcome, Deuteron LE 100 LV is the carrier-free liquid with no solvent contribution at all.
LE 50 is 50 percent active in butanol at 20 mPa.s, thin and easy to meter, built for electrostatic spray paints. LE 100 LV is 100 percent active with no carrier at 3500 mPa.s. Choose LE 50 when the solvent is welcome and dosing convenience matters, and LE 100 LV when nothing extra should enter the formulation.
Yes. It works in air-drying and forced-drying primers and top coats. The application it was developed for is setting the resistivity of electrostatic spray paints so the coating takes a charge correctly.
Yes, an 80 percent grade on the same technical data sheet, dosed at roughly 0.2 to 2 percent. It carries a more critical GHS label than LE 50 because of the higher active content. Ask us if the higher concentration suits your process better.
Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), Regulatory Information Sheet, and Conductivity Agents brochure on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
