Deuteron Wax A is a micronized amide wax that gives a coating a velvet surface feel, improves sandability, and enhances wood grain. It works across solventborne, waterborne, and 100 percent systems including UV curable coatings, and in powder coatings, which is why it is specified as a general purpose wax rather than a system-specific one.
In oven cured coatings the wax does a second job. In can coatings it gives release properties on the finished can, and in powder coatings, used together with benzoin, it supports degassing during cure.
Grain enhancement, called Anfeuerung in the German literature, is the deepening of the wood figure under a clear coat. Deuteron Wax A holds that effect over time rather than losing it as the film ages.

Deuteron Wax A disperses easily and can be incorporated with a common high-speed stirrer. In low viscosity systems a high shear dispersing unit may be needed to disperse the material properly.
Addition to waterborne coatings is more demanding and high shear can be necessary to reach a proper dispersion. For waterborne systems Deuteron also offers Wax WD A, a highly concentrated and easier to incorporate version of the same chemistry. Ask us which of the two fits your process.

It is a micronized amide wax. Amide waxes are used in coatings and inks for surface feel, sanding, and grain enhancement, and this grade is milled to a particle size of about 6.5 microns.
0.5 to 3.0 percent on the complete formulation. Where you land in that range depends on the binder, the application, and how strong an effect you want. Tell us the system and we will suggest a starting level for your trial.
Yes, and it needs more shear than a solventborne system does. If your process cannot deliver that shear, Deuteron makes Wax WD A, a highly concentrated version of the same chemistry that is easier to incorporate into waterborne coatings. We supply both.
Yes. In powder coatings Deuteron Wax A supports degassing during cure when it is used together with benzoin, and it contributes the same surface feel it gives in liquid systems.
It is the deepening of the wood figure that a clear coat produces on a wood substrate. Deuteron Wax A improves that effect and holds it over the life of the film, which is why it is used in wood and joinery coatings.
