PATstat 313 is a finished grade: a set antistat at a set loading in a set plasticizer carrier. It is made to a fixed specification, so it goes into your compound the same way every time.
That consistency is the point. When you build a static-control floor and qualify it, the additive behind the performance has to stay constant from lot to lot. A finished grade with a fixed specification gives you that: one product, one spec, the same result each run, with a Certificate of Analysis to confirm it.
PATstat 313 is a cationic antistat carried in a plasticizer, supplied as a clear, low-viscosity liquid at 43% active and free of volatile solvents. Because of its cationic character and high polarity, it lowers the electrical resistance of a PVC system even at small additions.
In practice it brings a system into the 106 to 109 ohm range, with the exact value set by the formulation and the dose. That band covers antistatic and static-dissipative performance. Flooring static control is specified by electrical resistance and by the voltage a person generates walking across the floor. The tiers run from light to strict:
Antistatic. Limits charge buildup so the floor does not shock people in normal use. The European resilient-flooring walk test, EN 1815, calls a floor antistatic at a body voltage of 2 kV or less.
Static-dissipative. Electrical resistance from 1.0x106 to under 1.0x109 ohms, the range protective ESD materials work in. This is where PATstat 313 lands.
Conductive. Resistance at or below 1.0x106 ohms, the fastest path to ground, normally built with a conductive filler.
Electronics and ESD programs design to ANSI/ESD S20.20, which pairs a resistance ceiling, commonly 1.0x109 ohms tested per ANSI/ESD STM7.1, with a peak body voltage under 100 volts.
