The crosslinkers that cure ROWA's two-component systems, and the additives that tune a lacquered surface. Without one of these no 2K topcoat reaches its properties.
ROWASET is the additive half of the ROWA Lack range. ROWA describes it as crosslinkers, slip additives, lubricants, surface modifiers, wetting and leveling agents, UV absorbers, defoamers, thickeners and stabilizers.
The crosslinkers are the load-bearing part. Every two-component ROWA system reaches its scratch, solvent and chemical resistance only after the matching ROWASET goes in, and the addition level is small: the ROWAFLON tensile-structure sheets cap it at 2.0 percent, and the two-component automotive polyurethanes work in grams of crosslinker per hundred grams of lacquer as delivered.
Two grades ROWA names in its own published material. ROWASET 61117 is the crosslinker called for on the ROWAFLON and ROWATHAL sheets we hold. ROWASET 63762 is the catalyst for the waterborne two-component anti-graffiti system, which holds a pot life over eight hours once mixed.
The rest of the family is matched to the lacquer, not selected from a shelf. ROWA does not publish a ROWASET grade list, because the additive that belongs in a system is decided with the system. Tell us the lacquer grade and the surface behavior you are chasing and we will get the ROWASET that goes with it.
A missing or wrong crosslinker is a common reason a two-component trial disappoints. The film looks right and the resistance is not there, because the network never formed.
| Property | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Function | Crosslinkers, slip additives, lubricants, surface modifiers, wetting and leveling agents, UV absorbers, defoamers, thickeners, stabilizers |
| Typical crosslinker addition | A few percent. Capped at 2.0 percent on the ROWAFLON tensile-structure grades |
| Automotive 2K basis | Grams of crosslinker per hundred grams of lacquer as delivered |
| Pot life, waterborne 2K anti-graffiti system | Over eight hours after ROWASET 63762 is added |
| Published grade list | None. Grades are matched to the lacquer system |
| Grades named in ROWA's own documents | ROWASET 61117 and ROWASET 63762 |
Dosage: Small and set by the lacquer. The ROWAFLON tensile-structure sheets cap the crosslinker at 2.0 percent; the two-component polyurethanes state it as grams per hundred grams of lacquer as delivered. Take the figure from the data sheet for the lacquer grade, not from this range.
Typical values from the manufacturer's technical data sheet. They describe the product, they are not a specification. We will send the current TDS and the batch documentation your qualification needs.
Tell us the binder system, the property you are targeting, and the volume you expect. We will confirm the grade, send the documentation, and get a sample of the candidate grade to you.
ROWASET 61117 on the ROWAFLON and ROWATHAL grades that call for it. Without the crosslinker the film does not reach its scratch, solvent or chemical resistance.
ROWASET 63762 catalyzes the ROWAKRYL M-35200W, M-35252W and G-35294W system. Pot life over eight hours, drying one minute at 140 degrees C.
Slip additives, lubricants and surface modifiers, where the hand or the coefficient of friction is the specification and the base lacquer is already right.
Wetting and leveling agents and defoamers, for craters, edge pull and foam that show up when a line speeds up or a substrate changes.
UV absorbers, where the film has to protect what is under it as well as survive itself.
It is specified where the formulation needs the resistance properties a two-component system is specified for, a working pot life measured in hours, not minutes, on the systems we run, surface feel and slip adjusted without changing the base lacquer, defect correction at the application step, and matched by ROWA to the lacquer instead of selected blind.
Add the crosslinker at the ratio the lacquer's own data sheet gives and stir it in thoroughly before the line starts. The ratio belongs to the lacquer grade.
Mix only what the shift will use. Pot life on the waterborne anti-graffiti system runs over eight hours; other systems are shorter, and the sheet for the lacquer states it.
The anti-graffiti system is applied directly to the coated web with an anilox roller or a doctor blade, and drying is one minute at 140 degrees C.
Where a primer is called for the primer goes down first, is dried, and only then takes the topcoat. On the waterborne anti-graffiti system ROWA names ROWATHAL M-25100W and G-25106W as the primers.
Package sizes: Made to order in the pack size the run needs. Crosslinker volumes are small relative to the lacquer, so tell us the lacquer volume and we will size it.
Storage: Dry, at room temperature, in the original airtight container. Take the shelf life from the data sheet for the grade, since it varies more across this range than across the lacquers.
Crosslinkers carry their own hazard classification, and a mixed two-component system is not the same hazard as either component on its own. Refer to the current safety data sheet for the ROWASET grade and for the lacquer, and handle the mixed system on both.
Use the one the lacquer's data sheet names. The crosslinker and the binder are designed together, and the resistance properties on the sheet were measured on that pair. Substituting is how a two-component trial produces a film that looks right and fails the solvent rub.
A few percent, and the exact figure sits on the data sheet for the lacquer grade. The ROWAFLON tensile-structure grades cap it at 2.0 percent. The two-component polyurethanes state it as grams of crosslinker per hundred grams of lacquer as delivered, which is a different basis, so read which one the sheet is using before scaling a batch.
On the waterborne two-component anti-graffiti system, over eight hours, which covers a shift on one mix. Other systems are shorter. Mix to the run, not to the drum.
Because the additive is matched to the lacquer system it goes into. ROWA publishes the function of the range and names the crosslinker on each lacquer's own data sheet. Tell us the lacquer grade and the surface behavior you want and we will get you the grade and the sheet.
The usual causes are no crosslinker, the wrong one, an addition level off the sheet, or a mix that sat past its pot life before it went down. All four give a film that looks correct because the coating is there and the network is not. Check the mix record before you change the lacquer.
Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and SVHC statement on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
