Gloss topcoats for PVC synthetic leather, applied on release paper by transfer coating. Three grades, one of them waterborne.
ROWANYL is a three-grade family of gloss topcoats for PVC synthetic leather, and all three are applied on release paper by transfer coating. That is the difference from the rest of the ROWA Lack range, which is coated directly onto the substrate.
In transfer coating the lacquer goes down onto an embossed release paper first, the PVC layers are built on top of it, and the paper is stripped at the end. The topcoat ends up as the outermost layer of the finished material and it carries the grain of the paper. It is how a high-gloss synthetic leather gets a gloss level and a texture that direct coating cannot reach.
104930 and 105258 are solventborne and differ in solids, at 28.0 and 20.4 percent. 105004W is the waterborne grade at 26.0 percent. All three are described the same way by ROWA: PVC synthetic leather, glossy, application on release paper.
Because the topcoat is laid down first and the material is built on it, the release paper decides the surface. A change of paper changes the finish even with the same lacquer, which is worth fixing before a trial is judged.
Every grade in the published range is SVHC-free.

Dosage: Applied as a coating onto release paper. Film build is set by the gloss and hand target and by the paper, so take it from the data sheet for the grade and confirm it on the first trial.
Typical values from the manufacturer's technical data sheet. They describe the product, they are not a specification. We will send the current TDS and the batch documentation your qualification needs.
Tell us the binder system, the property you are targeting, and the volume you expect. We will confirm the grade, send the documentation, and get a sample of the candidate grade to you.
104930 at 28.0 percent solids and 105258 at 20.4 percent, both solventborne. The choice between them is the film build the paper and the gloss target need.
105004W at 26.0 percent, water with EGD and IPA, for a plant working to a solvent limit.
The volume end of synthetic leather, where abrasion and chemical resistance are specified alongside the finish.
Fashion synthetic leather, where the gloss and the grain from the release paper are the specification.
It is specified where the formulation needs high gloss reachable only by transfer coating, grain and texture taken from the release paper, abrasion resistance on the outermost layer of the material, and a waterborne option in the same family.
Stir well before use and filter before application, the same two steps the rest of the range calls for.
The lacquer is applied to the release paper first and becomes the outermost layer of the finished material after the paper is stripped. Line settings therefore belong to the paper and the coating head together, not to the lacquer alone.
Changing release paper changes the finish at the same lacquer and the same film build. Fix the paper before judging a grade.
Where chemical or anti-graffiti resistance is specified on top of gloss, the two-component waterborne ROWAKRYL grades cover that lane and can be considered alongside these.
Package sizes: Made to order in the pack size the run needs. Tell us the volume and we will confirm.
Storage: Dry, at room temperature, in the original airtight container. Shelf life is 6 months in the sealed original pack across the ROWA Lack range. Confirm the figure on the current data sheet for your grade.
Every grade in ROWA's published ROWANYL range is SVHC-free. Refer to the current safety data sheet for hazard classification and handling. The solvent grades and the waterborne grade classify differently.
The lacquer is coated onto an embossed release paper, the PVC layers are built on top of it, and the paper is peeled off at the end. What was laid down first ends up as the outer surface of the material, carrying the grain of the paper. It reaches gloss levels and textures that coating directly onto a built fabric cannot.
104930 at 28.0 percent solids and 105258 at 20.4 percent do the same job at different film builds. The one you want depends on the release paper, the coating head and the gloss you are targeting. Send us the paper and the target and we will trial both.
No. 105004W is the same application at a different carrier, and solids, drying and the wet film all change. It is the grade to plan a conversion around, not one to swap in mid-run.
ROWA does not publish the backbone for this family and we will not guess at it in print. What is published is the application, the solids, the solvent system and the SVHC status, and all of it is on this page. If the chemistry matters to your specification, ask and we will put the question to ROWA's technical team.
Yes, through the waterborne two-component ROWAKRYL route rather than this family. That system is built on M-35200W, M-35252W and G-35294W with ROWASET 63762 as the catalyst, and it is written for exactly that requirement.
Yes. We send the Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), SVHC statement, and ISO 9001 certificate on request, in the manufacturer's current revision. Use Request TDS or SDS above and tell us what your qualification review needs.
