TRAPUR is the polyurethane half of Tramaco's primer range, covering the substrates the chlorinated polyolefin TRAPYLEN grades are not built for. The three current grades are ready-to-use primers that run on a rotogravure station at 0.5 to 2 grams per square meter dry, and every one is chlorine free by chemistry.
TRAPUR 113 is the solvent workhorse, an aromatic polyurethane in MEK and ethyl acetate with outstanding adhesion on PVC, PES, PS, ABS and rubber. It also pretreats polyolefin foils after a corona step. TRAPUR 115 X is the TPO-foil specialist; a foil primed with it takes a topcoat and then embosses easily, which is what decorative interior film work needs. TRAPUR 209 W is the waterborne grade, an aliphatic polyurethane dispersion that dries to a glossy, tack-free film on PP, PES and rubber.
All three run as one-component primers or as two-component systems with a polyisocyanate crosslinker, which raises heat stability, chemical resistance and, on 209 W, resistance against plasticizers. Pot life with crosslinker is at least 8 hours, so a shift runs on one mix.
A coated-substrate line can pair TRAPUR surface preparation with a topcoat system from ROWA Lack, Tramaco's sister company in the ROWA Group, and take both from us in one supplier relationship. These are made-to-order products from the German plant, so plan a first order against a trial.

Dosage: 0.5 to 1.5 grams per square meter on solids for the solvent grades and 0.5 to 2.0 for 209 W, applied as delivered. Crosslinker dosage is 5 percent on 113, 2 percent on 115 X and 4 percent on 209 W.

It is specified where the formulation needs covers the substrates outside TRAPYLEN's polyolefin lane, chlorine free by chemistry, in solvent and in water, one-component or crosslinked two-component operation from the same drum, primed foils emboss cleanly after topcoating on 115 X, and runs on a standard rotogravure primer station.
The primers are ready to use and are applied in delivered form, typically by rotogravure. 209 W also runs by roller or spray gun. Recommendations depend on the application process and are optimized per substrate in the trial.
Drying runs 30 seconds at 80 to 100 degrees C for the solvent grades and 60 seconds at 80 to 100 degrees C for the waterborne grade.
For heat stability and chemical resistance, crosslink with polyisocyanates: MDI types on 113, HDI types on 115 X, and a water-dispersible polyisocyanate on 209 W. The crosslinker goes in before application and the mix holds a pot life of at least 8 hours.
Coating polyolefin foils with 113 or 115 X wants a corona treatment to a surface tension of about 50 millinewtons per meter first.
Protect 209 W from frost. Grades with matting agents need a stir before every use.
Package sizes: Iron drums of 170 kg for the solvent grades, PE drums of 120 kg for 209 W. Other packing on request..
Storage: At least 12 months on 113 and 209 W and at least 6 months on 115 X, in closed original packing at 15 degrees C. Keep 209 W from frost.

When the substrate is not a polyolefin. PVC, PES, PS, ABS and rubber are polyurethane territory, and 113 or 209 W covers them. On PP, TPO and TPE foils both chemistries can work; 115 X is the choice when the primed foil has to emboss after topcoating.
